Robot Vacuum Battery Care: Make the Battery Last

Keep the robot on its dock between runs, keep the dock out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, and prefer daily short cleans over weekly full-battery marathons. Lithium cells degrade fastest when hot and when repeatedly run to empty; a robot that lives at 80–100% charge in a 20 °C room will still hold 80% of its capacity after five years.

Every robot in our test group uses a 14.4 V lithium-ion pack (2,600–6,400 mAh). The chemistry is the same as your phone, and so are the rules — with one difference: the robot decides when to charge, so your habits are about where it lives and how you schedule it.
