The Multi-Surface Facility

Synthetic test rooms do not reflect real homes. We test across a full residential apartment featuring sealed white oak, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), glazed porcelain tile, low-pile 8mm loop carpet, and 25mm deep-pile wool rugs. Two active dogs (a golden retriever and a terrier) and a long-haired domestic cat provide natural pet traffic and shedding.

Calibrated Debris & Precision Scales
100g weighed batches measured down to 0.1 gram
We never eyeball cleaning performance. We disburse calibrated 100g test batches: 50g organic unbleached flour (fine dust proxy), 30g long-grain white rice (heavy granular debris), and 20g collected dog fur. On carpets, debris is embedded with a standardized 5 kg roller. We weigh dustbins and water tanks before and after single passes on an Ohaus digital precision scale.

The 20-Hazard Obstacle Gauntlet
Simulating the messy reality of modern living floors
LiDAR and front optical sensors are put through a 20-hazard obstacle course: thin black USB-C cables, bundled power cords, stray socks, running shoes with untied laces, bathroom scales, pet water bowls, rug tassels, and realistic pet-waste analogues. Robots score 1 point per hazard avoided without contact or displacement.

Acoustic SPL Sound Chamber
Class 2 sound level meters measured at ear height (1.0 meter)
Vacuum noise claims on box packaging are measured in anechoic chambers at low power. We measure acoustic decibels (dB A-weighted) at exactly 1.0 meter distance on sealed hardwood in standard cleaning mode and max suction boost. We also record peak decibels during dock auto-empty cycles.

Testing hands-free claims across a full month of daily runs
Self-emptying and mop-washing docks are evaluated for true hands-free reliability. We track bag compaction over 30 days without manual shaking, measure mop drying temperatures (checking for the 55°C–70°C threshold required to stop mold), and perform swab inspections of dirty water tanks and roller bristles after 48 hours of docking.
